I have an 04 Titan LE 2WD with just over 18,000 miles.  Last week while on the freeway going down hill, the engine revs and tach starts climbing, up to about 5k rpm with no noticable increase in speed.  It felt like a manual transmission when the clutch is bad and starts to slip.  Happened twice.

Anyone else have this issue?

Called the dealer, and of course they have never heard of it, which seems to be the answer no matter what you ask them.  "Bring it in" is the only comment they seem to able to make over the phone, must be a legal issue.

Was your cruise control on? Im with you, sounds like a tranny problem or maybe a shift sensor...The dealer prolly just didnt want to speculate on a diagnosis over the phone...doubt there will be any 'legal issues'. You should still be covered under your warranty...gl

The CruiseControl was not on at that time.  We're bringing it in on Friday. I will post the outcome here for future members.

It may have been the internal engine brake? Mine has does this from time to time depending on how fast I am going and how steep the hill is. Sounds like a big-rig "Jake Brake". I don't think it's anything to worry about, unless the tranny was jerking and you had no power transfer. Several people on other boards I visit have had this happen to them also. I think it sounds awesome when it happens to me beings I've got the Flowmasters on, you know you've got them on when that happens!!
