Ok I have two questions. Please bare with me i am an ultra noob haha

First, what are the advantages of getting a cold air intake and getting a new filter. I was looking at the K&N if that makes any differnce.

Second, My 2004 Titan has i guess you might call a panel air filer, not a cone. If i were to get a new filter should i get another panel (flat) filter or a cone.

I'll tell you from my experience.

I first just replaced the factory filter with a K&N drop filter. Saw slight results. Then, I purchased a Volant cold air intake and have noticed great gains in both torque, throttle response, and gas mileage. So, if you have an exhaust, it would be wiser to get a cold air intake (K&N, Volant, Brute Force, etc.) to help with the air in/air out system. As far as what brand of air intake, I just did a little research to figure out what I wanted more, since they all cost close to the same.

Hope this helps.

What kind improvement in gas mileage have you gotten?  I am interested in purchasing a cold air intake, but I only want it if it really improves my mileage.  I have a '05 Titan w/offroad package and my hwy mpg remains in the 15's normally and low 16's on a long trip.  Just a few weeks ago I was the last vehicle in a 4 car line for over 200 miles, and because I was drafting I got 17.6 mpg for that one stretch.  I would love to get that kind of mpg more often.  If I got 16 or over normally I'd be happy.  What do you think?  I know that with a proffesional tune, major motor work, full exhaust in my old mustang I was getting 25 mpg easy with almost 500 hp N/A.  It really helped the engine flow.  I have a feeling that the Titan has a potential for decent gas mileage, and I'd love to find it but not w/ too many mods.

I only have exhaust and cold air intake mods. I also have the '04 Off Road Pkg with 2wd  and have been getting over 15mpg in town and over 20mpg highway, without drafting. So, if you're willing to spend a little on an intake ($200-$300) and on an exhaust ($220-$1000+) you will see better fuel gains. I have also switched to M1 synthetic oil.

Does anyone know if installing a K&N Series 63 air intake voids the factory warranty?

Has anyone received an offical response from Nissan USA?

Thank you.

i haven't seen anything as on that but i did see where the difference between the series 63 and 77 was that one (77) was street legal and CARB approved. if i can find anything i will post it.

i installed the 77 series and it gives it some real muscle sound when you are on the gas. problem so far is that my gas mileage has drop from 17 to 15.5 / 16 mpg. could just be the way i drive since the install.
