I have got wind that nissan is apparently going to be offering a big in the titan in the next couple of years. I was told that it was going to be a 7.0 liter and rated at 450 hp's. Has anyone heard this or is my source making crap up.

Nissan from my knowledge is interested in diesel's more then a "big block"  in truth they wouldn't need it they already have the 5.6 making 800 hp in the race applications and obviously some of that techology could easily be brought into production.

with that kind of power on tap I doubt there is a need for a second totally different (read more expensive to engineer) engine

I grant what i posted dealt with performance #'s but  have you looked at the towing #'s of these performance trucks lately?  The Silverado SS rating is beyond 8k lbs and the quad cab SRT-10 ram is rated at over 7k.  The other thing you mention which is the loss of towing capacity between the 2500 series and SS silverados.  You lose 2k pounds between them in comparable models (6 liter RWD)  My guess is that the 2k lb towing difference has more to do with the chasis difference then the engine behind it.  I don't particularly care one way or the other but I'd wage to bet that we will sooner see a diesel then a second gas engine offering in the titan
