I just bought a 2004 crew cab which has dual exhaust on it.  I am not sure what brand made the exhaust system, and I really do not know much about them.  Are there benefits to having the dual exhaust?  Also, is there a way to cut down on the noise level other than replacing the dual with a single?  It wasnt a deal breaker for me obviously, but I am just curious what options I have.  Thanks for the help

the dual exhaust will give u a little more engine power, going down to a single may not always make it quieter, if you really want less noise from it you'd probly have to change o a differant muffler. the flowmaster 70 series is pretty tame so i hear, not much louder than stock, and you'll still get a small performance gain..

I agree with Tom, but Flow master might give you some unwanted drone, if it were me I would look into DYNOMAX-SUPER TURBO or ULTRA FLO, they are a all welded muffler that will not have any in cab drone.

Note:longer the muffler,quieter the sound @ idle

The loudness/sound of your exhaust will be solely dependant upon the muffler.  I have tried many different mufflers on many different trucks...most of which produced a drone in the cabin which was really tiring and annoying over time.  I am on my second Titan, and will modify the exhaust the same way I did on my first, which was to retain the stock muffler (which sounds fine to me), and to run a Y after the muffler which dumps into dual exhausts exiting out the rear of the truck. As for performance, there are some very knowledgeable exhaust experts who will tell you that if you are running a cat-back system, the amount of performance increase is negligible, and in some cases, actually hurts performance because of reducing back pressure.  Seems our Titans need backpressure to run at their best.  The most significant gains in performance come from installation of a true dual, TUNED exhaust system designed specifically for the Titan, which runs from the manifolds....not cat-back.  And let's not forget that if you really are seeking additional performance, in addition to opening up the exhaust, you also need to install a less-restrictive air intake system.

don is absolutly right, most have found that cat-back systems actually make u loose a little low end torque, but its usually made up on the high end...
