After making several calls
I spoke with Lee today at Auto Specialties and inquired about an underdrive pulley system for the Titan, He indicated that he has received a few calls regarding the Titan and Armada. So I asked, what would it take to get it into production, Lee indicated that it would take a 100 for him to make it worth while with all the R/D. That is understandable. I ask Lee if I could spread the word to help. I was told if he gets a good response, he will work on it, Please spread the word to email asp@aspracing.com Attn: Lee Is great to see another company take some interests in us Titan owners.
Thank you all for taking the time to support this effort.

This is from there website Auto Specialties underdrive pulley systems increase engine horsepower by reducing the amount of power required to drive external accessories. For example, the alternator, power steering, water pump and air conditioner all rob horsepower from the engine. By replacing factory-sized crank and accessory drive pulleys with a resized pulley, the accessories are slowed, resulting in more horsepower available to drive the rear wheels. Typically, a set of Auto Specialties street pulleys will increase output by 12 to 15 horsepower, resulting in quarter mile time improvements of .2 to .25 seconds. All pulleys are CNC machined from billet steel or aluminum, exceeding factory quality.

sounds like a good mod, but we also must remember that the accessories that are slowed, also will not perform as well as stock, like ur alt. will not charge your battery as fast, your cooling system may be less effective etc. etc., not trying to down the idea, just want to make sure we all know what may happen...

Yeah the underdrive pulley systems are pretty good. The only reason I'm not a fan of them is because I've always had sub-woofers in my vehicles, so that don't work out that great other than sound system, great mod.

These things will be kind of a PITA to install, as well... not a terribly large amount of room between the fan shroud and the block.

Ive been communicating with Unorthodox Racing about an underdrive pulley kit for the Titan. Supposedly they will have a product this fall with gains from 20-24 HP and 30lbs of TQ(numbers from concept may differ from final product), and fuel mileage would be improved.
I have experience with the underdrive pulley systems and have a set in my 300ZX TwinTurbo. I have attend Autocrosses, track events, and drag competitions with my Z and have NEVER had any issues with alternator charge, cooling, steering at idle, or anything else that would be would have been caused by the underdrive pulley kit.
As for installation, the fan shroud and possibly the radiator may have to be removed in order to work down there,....no biggie. The little bit of work putting the pulley in would DEFFINITLY be worth it.

well, figure this, the titan alt. is rated to produce 136 amps @ 5k RPM, if you have a smaller pulley kit, that would be reduced to say 100 amps @ 5k RPM ( just a guess ), so those of us that may require a good amount of power on a normal basis, the alt. wouldnt be able to give you what you need...

The only thing that I can think of that you would need alot charge would be the use of a powerful stereo system. Even then, you wouldn't have a big issue with charging unless you were blasting the system for long periods of time while the vehicle sit at idle or driving at very low speeds. These products that UR makes, are all tested to see what would be the best diameter for the pulley that would yield good power results yet keeping the charging system from being over worked under slightly higher than normal draws.
At my other forum that I am a member of, TwinTurbo.net, there are literally hundreds of members who have the underdrive kits in there vehicles and some having high powered systems have never had any issues with the charging system at all. True, the Alt will have to charge a little bit more, but nothing that would cause any issues.

ASP racing just emailed me with this:
"We are no longer working on this application as the harmonic dampner is not easily removed from the crank shaft. I do not want customers to have to remove radiators to get dampners off."
WTF? HE doesn't want customers working on their own trucks?
Seems like he just doesn't want to make the product. Seriously, a radiator removal will take 10-20 mins tops. Its not like it's hard at all. *sigh* Whatever...
