so, i hear that adding an exhaust in conjunction with a cool air intake
will increase fuel efficiency more so than just having the
intake. if anyone out there has any info, please elaborate.
i have the volant intake and gas mileage remained unchanged, or
slightly worse, even.

I've seen improvements in conjunction using both air intake and exhaust, air in air out. I don't really know why you would get worse mileage just with an intake alone. Maybe there needs to be a study using all the available intakes (K&N, Volant, BruteForce, etc.) to see if any are better than the other when it comes to MPG.
