Some have leakes on Passenger side due to the evap core drain - but on drivers side ????
Assuming you haven't driven through any floods lately you have to suspect a windshield leak, firewall or even door leak. I remember someone reporting a odd leak path from door speaker area.
Pull that carpet back and line everything w/newspaper. Get out the hose and start spraying. The newspaper will make it easier to see drips that come down and wet the paper- turns darker. Remember, the leak source can be 2 feet away from where you see the drip- water can follow some odd paths.
The dealer will do pretty much the same thing but is time limited. Unless Niagra Falls hits him in the face you'll get a "could not duplicate" result. Try to find it yourself first but most definately then get the dealer to fix the leak AND replace carpet.

If it was by chance the heater core leaking and somehow finding its way over to the drivers side, you could prolly still smell the water to see if it has that antifreeze smell...If not then my guess is maybe a windshield ot door seal leak.

I would agree with the newspaper technique. It takes time but you really want to actch it early to get the delaer to fix it on Nissan's dime.

no, not antifreeze. it's a mildew smell. i placed paper towl down before washing it, and there's no water leaking onto the floor from the doors or windshield. it's somehow getting under the carpet. the padding is soaked right now and the carpet is marginally dry.

If/when they find and fix the leak, and you are left with the mildew smell, you might try puttin a box of baking soda in there at night to help soak up the smell. Also if your truck is garaged, I would leave the windows cracked at night to help it air out, maybe even run a small fan in there pointed at the floorboardto help it dry out. Freebreeze also works well. or go to Sams Club...they sell this stuff www.odoban.com

the leak has supposedly been fixed.
it was diagnosed as an opening in a body seam. water was coming down from the windshield area and somehow getting into the truck, running down the firewall and down to the floorboard thus soaking the underside of the carpet. the re-welded it, caulked it, and replaced the padding under the carpet which had mildewed. i washed it again tonight, so we'll see if there is wetness in the morning when i head out for work.
in the process, they had to remove the seat and subwoofer. they forgot to hook the subwoofer back up, so i had to take it to another dealer (closer to my hometown) to have that fixed. they are billing the first dealer $62 in labor, which i thought was a bit funny

Its not good that the weld was crap but it is good that is could be fixed so quickly. I hope they really did a weld fix and not an epoxy fix. Have you seen the area affected?

no, ive not seen it yet. i'm pretty sure they welded. there was a hint of burnt metal in the cab. it has worked so far. i've washed it twice, and it has rained, and the floor is dry. let's pray.

Good to hear about the smell. It makes me think they did do a proper weld.
