posting to see if anyone has done a do-it-yourself XM install.  still waiting for shipment from online order of parts and trying to get some heads up info on the install.  not sure if you read the nissan install guide but page page 5 is freaky talking about the accelerator control system.  has anyone installed the tuner somewhere else besides where the guide says to install??????  my buddy deviated from the install on his non-nissan truck and installed the tuner under the driver seat but he said the wiring from the tuner to the prewired connector has to be long enough...

Think you need more wire than they give you. You would need to have another male & female gang connector too. Otherwise it's wire cutting time. Mine is still in the box too. Been there for more than half a year. Now they have this Ipod gizmo that stores 5000 song for $300.00. I'm trying to find out if you can plug it in the aux jack & be done with it. Lazy? yes. Intimidated by the task? yes. Don't want some $8.00 dollar an hour jackass loose with a pair of wire cutters under my dash? YES YES

I cheated. I bought the skifi2 unit. I did not like where crutchfield wanted to install it so here is what I did.

I made a small bracket and used velcro to hold it in place. When in person it is real neat looking. As far as the aux, When hooked to this the volume is real low.

I did a do-it-yourself install.  It was a pain in the ass, but can be done.  If you have a early 04 TITAN is it more difficult because you havre to replace the mounting brackets.  And you have to take apart the dash, the side panels, and the rear seat.  GOOD LUCK ... I accomplished it but would never do it again.  Wiring is the simple part ..... the TITAN is pre-wire so all you do is plug the tuner in with an N0BUS cable that you cut loose that is tied under the dash.

I did a do it your self  install took me half an hour,

if you got the rockford system its a little harder, but i just pluged it in, and stuck it on top of the little box  just to the pasanger side of the steeering collumn under the dash, it comes with some sticky pads those and some long wire ties worked great. didnt buy the bracket or pay the $400 they wanted for the dealer to do the install. whole install toook about 30 min.
