I'm trying to find out who makes the XM radio for the Titan.

I'm trying to get around the going through the dealership, but so far that's all I have found on the web.

I would go with Sirius Satellite instead of XM, but that's just me.

I got XM and mounted the controller on the angled piece between the sunglass holder and next pocket.  The controller for the XM Commander is very small and fits very nicely there.

I spliced into the AUX jack wires behind the dash, so no FM modulator either.  I ran the antenna wire up to the roof through the roof-mounted 3rd brake light.

Max,

Any chance you can get me a photo of how you ran your antenna wire thru the third brake light?

This is where I mounted the XM Commander in the overhead console:

I ran the antenna wire on the driver's side, just under the headliner.  See those two plastic covers on the roof in front the of the rear window?  Snap those out and you will find two nuts that hold the 3rd brake light in place.

Once you've pulled the brake light out, you can run the wire through.  This is where I mounted my antenna.  I added some black putty (dum dum as some auto installers call it) to help seal the wire.  I don't really think you need it since there is a nice foam gasket on there.

Maxhawk.....Nice job!

You took some time to make it look clean...looks great.  I have to say, I never would have thought (till seeing your loaction) to even mount it up there!

Max,

I truly appreciate your taking the time to post photos of your antenna installation.  I've been trying to use my XM with the antenna just sitting on top of the dash, but the truck blanks out the signal every once in a while.  Your installation looks great,,,and easy too.  Thanks Again,  Chad

PS;  I have the same Radar Detector.  Those Valentine folks really know what their doing.

My understanding is that this particular antenna uses the roof as part of the receiver, so if it's sitting on your dash, it's certainly far from optimal.  An interesting experiment would be to stick it to the "underside" of the roof, above the headliner.  You could just pop off one of the upper panel (the one where I mounted my XM) to access the metal roof to see if it works.

Yes, Valentine makes top notch stuff.  Only PITA is that I have to move it back and forth from the car, but it's well worth it.  You can't appreciate the directional arrows until you've used them.

Max,

Got my antenna installed two days ago exactly like yours.  I put a small dab of silicone around the antenna coax where it passed under the foam seal of the 3rd brake light.  I thoroughly tested it for leaks yesterday as we got one hell of a rain storm in the Dallas area.  Thanks again,

Chad
