I have a 2004 king cab with about 45000 miles on it (it stays on the road quite a bit).  I have just put a set of tires on it, the same that came on it for reasons to long to talk about.  I have noticed, even before the new tires that bumps in the road are really felt in the steering wheel.  I do not remember it being like this until recently.  Any body else have a similar problem and if so, what did you do for it?

I got the same problem on my 06 XE (the cheap one) king cab, it started at 250 miles and I had it at the dealer already and they said nothing is wrong with it, yet at 1,000 miles now its still there and some times I also smell burning rubber ,like as if a pulley tensioner is loose or slipping, but no wear marks on the pulley or belt,, but I do smell alot of burnning rubber from the front tires after I get home,  after a coast down from slow speeds, but  the truck is as smooth as glassat speeds above 30 or MPH though! Well, its under warrenty and ill keep complaining about it so its on record any way.

Hi David... I was reading the forum and I came across your article about your front end problem.  I seem to have the same problem with my 2004 King Cab. I have about 45000 miles on my vehicle and my front end feels like it is loose. The dealer says that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle even after just putting on four new tires and having a third alignment done on it. The front feels loose when going over bumps and when driving on the highway the truck seems to keep drifting back and forth on the road. Must constantly make steering adjustments. Can't take your eyes of the road for a few seconds. Truck is going back to the dealer on Oct. 10 for it's second rear end job (leaking rear seals). First one was done at 20.000 miles and for another problem with the rotors warping again and this time they want me to pay for them even though I have a 100.000 warrenty on the vehicle. All rotors and brakes were changed on the truck at 12.000 miles. Still waiting for Nissan customer service to get back to me after two weeks and today I am ready to go on the warpath with anyone that is about to give me any kind of crap from Nissan. About to file a claim with the BBB.

I experienced the drifting thing years ago with a neighbors van I drove for 2-3 weeks. It seemed to have 2-3 inches of 'play' in the steering wheel...It scared me to death to drive that thing...dont know what it could be unless it was something in the steering linkage.

OK, this may sound stupid and I know you have thought of this, but how's the pressure in your tires?  My experience is that low pressure in radials will cause them to feel really weird, with wandering all over the road and making rump-rump noises.  That's how I know to air mine up.

Just my 2 percent of a dollar.
