I noticed a loud "thunk" sound right after the light turned green.  I thought it was someone else's car.  Seconds later I felt as if I got rear-ended by someone.  Then the same loud noise occurred again and the "slip" warning light came on.  It was as if the transmission got stuck.  Please let me know if anyone experienced this or have any idea why.  Thanks.

You know it's funny but most of the issues related to my Titan are confirmed by reading the forum.  Every now and then when I come to a stop the truck will lurch forward a bit, as if rear ended.  Several times I've looked in the rear view mirror to make sure that isn't the case.  I always kind of attributed it to a light foot on the brake pedal but now that I read your post it makes me wonder if it is slipping.  Sorry I don't have an answer but at least I can confirm that you aren't imagining it

I've felt it too especially when the engine and tranny is still cold in the morning. It feels like the tranny is down shifting back into 1st to me. Usually happens when Im stopped at a light.

I started noticing this problem tonight.  Worse yet however,  I also started noticing that my tranny is slipping in first gear.  After the thunk if I am stopped and try to accellerate the engine revs and I get a feel like gears are slipping ie. the truck shimmies just a bit and then everything catches and I am off.  I am a bit worried about it though.  heading to the shop with it tomorrow.

Good luck.  I took mine in and couldn't produce the same noise/symptoms.  The dealer couldn't do anything and told me to keep an eye on it.  I recently got my truck back from them after two months in the shop.  It started leaking oil from the differential box.  And soon after, this happens....
