I have seen a few posts on exhaust work. Today I took my 3 day old truck into the shop to open it up a bit. I was really surprised at how well the factory setup was. This is one of few trucks on the market that can have a TRUE DUAL exhaust system installed very easily. I was really shocked to see that there was a cat on each side rather than the typical Y pipe into a cat then a resonator, then the muff.
At first, I had a two chamber Flowmaster with dual outlets put on. This setup was really LOUD. My truck is used for work, so I cannot have it too loud as to piss off my customers when I pull in the drive way
I ended up going with 3 inch pipes off of the resonators and into a Y that went into the muffler. I chose a Borla muff. (I have had Borla in the past with a couple of my cars in the past and liked how they sounded.) Out of the muff I went with 2 1/2 inch pipes that were custome bent on a Mandral (spelling???) I used chrome 4 inch rolled tips that exit on each side of the spare tire. I will put up some pix later. The sound is AMAZING on this setup. There is just enough rumble on light throttle to put a grin on my face. Under WOT on the other hand, it sounds like a big block from the late 60's At normal cruising, purrs like a kitten. Just a tad bit louder than the stock system.
Hope this helps out some all.
