Does anybody know if a K&N air filter will gain me any H.P.? If so how much ? Will it help any on the gas milage ? I have a 05 Titan 4x4 XE, it only has 400 miles on it but when I figured the gas milage I only got 12 MPG, I do understand about the break in period but I figured a little better driving on county roads and little stop and go.

Not really sure on actual gains with a K&N filter. Are you simply replacing the stock or installing an air charger? I just replaced the stock, and can tell minor difference on every day to day driving to work. But on highway is the biggest difference. Ran on highway 75-80mph, 205 miles, on half a tank of regular unleaded gas. To me, that was a big improvement. As far as the break in period, I think at about 3000-4000 miles it was broken in for me also, which also gave small increase in mpg.

Thanks for the reply. I was planning on just the replacement for now, if you can think of anything else to gain H.P. and gain M.P.G. please let me know. Thanks,

Gaining mpg mostly has to do with your style of driving. But replacing the stock air filter, and adding exhaust I have gained both mpg and horsepower. Don't have a dyno to test it, but I can definetly feel the difference. Whatever you do, DON'T buy that "chip" off eBay that claims to add 20+ hp, all it is is a resistor that will lose mpg by mixing more gas in the engine. That's about all I know at this time.

K&N Air Filters ( Air Oiled Filters !!!!) Void Warranty !!!!

Good Morning, I was just ready to install a K&N Oiled Air filter and checked with the Thoroughbred Nissan.  The service manger states if your Titan comes in with a Check Air Flow fault code (Service Engine Lite On) with a K&N or any Oiled Filter the repair to the air sensor is NOT warranty covered. The intake air flow sensor cost $500.00 plus $170.00 for install and programming.

Sincerely,

Akoni

Don't over oil the filters!! Or it will cause damage, use it sparingly.

Here's my experience with K&N air filters. I used it straight out of the sealed bag so it wasn't over oiled.

When I used a K&N air filter in my Ranger my mileage dropped immediately from 17.5mpg to 16.5mpg. Over the next 6000 miles it dropped down to 13mpg. I removed and cleaned the mass air flow sensor and my mileage went up to 16.5mpg but dropped again over next 6000 miles. I bought a standard air filter, tossed the K&N and cleaned my mass air flow sensor, mileage went back to 17.5mpg and has stayed their ever since. It seems the oil on the K&N filter fouls the mass air flow sensor. I've heard of this on other cars as well, the local GM dealer won't even stock K&N filters, their service guys advise customers not to use them because they've has so much trouble.

I was mostly hoping for better gas mileage (big disapointment) because I really don't thing 2-4 more hp's is going to make a difference. If I can't haul a trailer with the hp that I have I probably won't be able to haul it with 2 more.
